Vriddhi Project
Project Vriddhi started in 2022 in Jambusar block of Bharuch District in Gujarat to create an integrated model towards improved health and nutrition status of children and adolescents. The project was based on a continuum of care approach by involving key stakeholders and building their capacities and skills.
- Identifying and intervening with the vulnerable children and adolescents for health and nutritional impact
- Enhancing knowledge and skill-sets of all caregivers, healthcare providers, ICDS functionaries and school teachers towards improving the health and nutritional status of children and adolescents
- Facilitating educational institutions to promote health and nutritional guidance, particularly among teachers of science and information technology.
- Promoting peer leadership to spread health awareness among the target groups effecting social and behavioural change and its application
- Involving with adolescents and peer groups to bring about behaviour change with special focus on health and nutrition
- Engaging with all key stakeholders including parents and community members through advocacy and liaison for appropriate social and behavioural changes on different activities of health and nutrition.
The project’s interventions involved engagement- with the community via household meetings and group meetings at the Anganwadi Centres; with adolescent groups in schools and out of school through mobile nutrition guidance centre where children are being educated about health, nutrition, and other relevant issues; and with children (0-6 age group) having nutritional deficiency who were identified via medical health screening in the 66 Anganwadi Centres.
The activities were framed with the purpose of adopting and promoting, preventive and curative measures towards the achievement of improved health and nutrition care for children and adolescents from targeted geographical locations of Jambusar block, Bharuch, Gujarat.
12498 beneficiaries have been reached through different interventions.
