The initiative focuses on delivering sustainable, integrated health services to socio-economically marginalized communities in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The aim is to enhance health outcomes by addressing critical challenges in nutrition and healthcare.

Project Objectives:

  • To provide   primary   health care services including basic diagnostic and referral services.
  • Population-based screening of common NCDs like Diabetes, Hypertension and common Cancers
  • To spread awareness on chewing tobacco, consuming alcohol, cancer, basic healthcare, WASH and hygiene also organize street plays and IEC material distribution to the villagers.
  • To organize special health camps.
  • Linking of government health services from sub-center > PHC> CHC> District Hospital for the sustainability of services of the project.
  • To contribute to overall improvement in the health indicators of the State

     

Target Population:

  • Marginalized communities residing in areas with limited healthcare access.
  • Underserved urban slums and rural pockets.
  • Tribal populations in remote areas of Navi Mumbai.

Activities:

The Health Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) reported that certain areas within Navi Mumbai have higher rates of infant mortality, maternal mortality, and infectious diseases compared to the city’s average. For instance, as per the NMMC Health Report 2022, areas like Airoli, Ghansoli, and Turbhe exhibit higher incidences of preventable diseases due to inadequate healthcare infrastructure and limited access to medical services.

The medical unit is providing its services is locations of: Sambhaji Nagar, Samta Nagar, Ithanpada, Yadav Nagar, Rabale MIDC, Adivasi area, Devidham Nagar etc. Huntsman International further intends to extend its services in nearby underserved areas, eg.- Karjat (tribal area) and as per need.

The activities include:

  • Deployment of Mobile Medical Unit: A fully-equipped medical van is deployed to visit identified underserved areas on scheduled days.
  • Medical Services: The van is providing primary healthcare services including general check-ups, immunizations, antenatal care, basic diagnostic tests, and medication dispensation.
  • Health Education and Awareness: Health education sessions are conducted on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, family planning, and disease prevention.
  • Referral Services: Referrals are facilitated to nearby healthcare facilities for specialized care and follow-up treatment.
