Jan Kavach
Project Jan Kavach, supported by Huntsman Solutions India Pvt. Ltd, aims to improve health outcomes for marginalized communities in 19 villages of Khed Taluka, Pune District, Maharashtra. This initiative provides essential healthcare services, screens for non- communicable diseases (like diabetes and hypertension), and raises community awareness on
critical health issues with the help of a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). Through active participation and partnerships, Project Jan Kavach is committed to fostering a healthier future for Khed Taluka. It has been widely appreciated and embraced by the local in the nearby
villages.
- Providing primary health care services including basic diagnostic and referral services
- Population-based screening of common NCDs like Diabetes, Hypertension and common Cancers
- Spreading awareness on chewing tobacco, consuming alcohol, cancer, basic healthcare, WASH and hygiene also organize street plays and IEC material distribution to the villagers.
- Organize special health camps
- Linking of government health services from sub-center > PHC> CHC> District Hospital for the sustainability of services of the project.
- To contribute to overall improvement in the health indicators of the State
Project Implementation Strategy
Health on Wheels – HOW r u
In order to take healthcare to the doorsteps of the people, IRG operationalized fully equipped Mobile Medical Unit. The project used the following multipronged approach to effectively utilize the MMU:
- Fixed movement schedule, fixed day service and fixed service delivery points while also ensuring that MMUs cover all the targeted villages appropriately.
- Community Awareness through IEC/BCC materials.
- Advocacy with elected representatives, influencers and decision makers ensuring their full participation and cooperation.
- Visibility, Branding and Media Engagement (Local, State and National) through stories and case presentations including feature stories in Archroma’s newsletter, local website and social media.
- Creating referral linkages for higher level care.
34246 beneficiaries were provided the health screening and treatment through the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), out of which 15083 beneficiaries were male and 19163 were females.
